MARK Venus is looking forward to seeing the two highest scoring teams in all four English divisions go head to head when Albion visit Peterborough in the FA Cup fourth-round on Saturday (ko 3pm).

The Baggies lead the way with 62 Championship goals in 28 games, while The Posh have rattled up 50 in 26 League Two encounters.

And Tony Mowbray's No.2 is expecting an open game at London Road as the two sides meet just five months on from Albion's entertaining 2-0 Carling Cup second-round victory at United.

"The two top scorers going at it would suggest there is going to be some goals," said Venus.

"Who knows what's going to happen on the day?

"It will be a proper game of football.

"They'll probably go out to spread the field and try to beat us.

"I don't think they'll want to try and nullify us and frustrate us.

"I think they'll come out and attack us.

"Hopefully it will be a good game for everyone."

The Hawthorns assistant boss insists, while the league remains the priority, the Baggies will be doing everything in their power to book a place in the fifth round.

He is excited by how this season's competition is shaping up with only 11 Premier League clubs still in the running to reach Wembley.

And three more top-flight sides are guaranteed to tumble at the fourth-round stage as Manchester United host Tottenham, Wigan entertain Chelsea and Arsenal take on Newcastle.

"It's a prestigious tournament," Venus insisted.

"I watched the two Carling Cup semi-finals this week and Chelsea and Tottenham were both ecstatic to get to the final.

"Any achievement is great today and we want to win as many rounds as possible.

"The more games you play the more it takes out of your legs.

"But the bottom line is you want to be in as many tournaments as possible.

"It's 'Catch 22' really but there are no excuses."

He added: "I think the cup has opened up.

"There are a lot of Premier League clubs out already.

"Two more will go in the next round.

"Going up to the quarter-finals, or even the semi-finals, it's possible you might miss one of the 'big four' teams.

"I think the door is open if you get through.

"A team like Millwall getting to the final a few years ago gives you hope.

"I'd love us to have a big game like that to look forward to at the end of the season.

"If you can get through to the latter stages of the cup you can give the whole of the area a lift.

"It would light up the West Midlands and it's about time the fans saw that."
