Mowbray casting eye over Dorrans
TONY Mowbray has confirmed he is casting his eye over Scotland Under-21 international Graeme Dorrans in training with the Baggies this week.
The 20-year-old forward has scored ten times in 21 appearances for Livingston this term and is just one goal off being joint-top scorer in the Scottish First Division.
The Livi Lions ace has been recommended to Albion by his current manager and ex-Hibernian assistant boss Mark Proctor.
"Graeme's training with us for a few days as a player who has been recommended," said Mowbray.
"I haven't seen him but Mark Venus has once or twice and his name is always top of the goalscoring chart in the Scottish First Division.
"He's been playing wide right for Livingston but having spoken to their manager he believes he could develop into a centre-forward.
"Their manager has worked with Chris Brunt and James Morrison when they were youth team players and he feels the lad has similar potential and is someone we should be looking at.
"We'll have him here for a few days and we'll then send him back so he can play for Livingston at the weekend.
"It's unlikely he will be signed in January but there's no harm in having a look at him to see the potential that's there.
"I don't want to say I'm going to do this or that - I go in with an open mind - as he's not somebody I've seen.
"I would suggest that if he does well we'll monitor him on a weekly basis and see how he develops."
