Villa knock Albion ladies out FA Cup

Posted on: Mon 10 Dec 2007

ERIN Hicken's strike proved nothing more than a consolation as Albion ladies were knocked out of the Women's FA Cup 2-1 at the third-round stage by derby rivals Villa yesterday.

Academy

Albion Under-18s suffered a last-gasp 3-1 defeat by Manchester United in the FA Premier Academy League ahead of Tuesday's third-round FA Youth Cup trip to Preston (ko 7pm).

The Baggies fell behind but a Ricky Nicholls penalty drew them level at the break, only for Michael Appleton's men to be outdone by two United strikes in the final ten minutes.

ALBION (4-4-2): Lloyd-Weston, Pike, Manchester (Hurst HT) Holmes, Mason; Nicholls (Sawyer 70), Bruce, Labadie, Saied; S Morrison, Lake-Gaskin. Subs not used: Carlin (gk).
