DAVID Worrall scored Albion's consolation as the Under-18s lost 4-1 at Crewe in their FA Premier Academy League (Group C) clash.

Individual errors cost the Baggies three goals as they suffered their fourth successive defeat.

But Hawthorns coach Michael Appleton was pleased to see his team keep plugging away until the final whistle.

"The result suggests we had a bit of a hiding," he said.

"But on reflection that wasn't the case.

"Poor individual errors cost us on three of the goals and they scored a great free-kick.

"We created numerous opportunities and I cannot fault their effort, attitude and application.

"All the lads can do now is put our shoulders back and stick our chests out.

"We've got to take the rough with the smooth.

"We're easy on the eye but we need a few more warriors in there.

"We've got some big games coming up and we haven't got time to feel sorry for ourselves."

The Baggies host Manchester United tomorrow (ko noon) before travelling to Preston seven days later (ko 7pm) for their third-round FA Youth Cup tie.

ALBION (4-4-2): Carlin; Hurst, Pike, Mason, Hancox; Worrall, Bruce, Labadie (Nicholls HT), Knight (Samuels 70); Morrison, Nardiello (Saied 60). Subs not used: Lloyd-Weston (gk), Holmes.
