Baggies U18s bounce back against Reds

Posted on: Mon 29 Oct 2007

ALBION Under-18s bounced back from their 7-0 thrashing by Manchester United to earn a hard-fought goalless draw against Liverpool on Saturday.

Michael Appleton's injury-hit side for the FA Premier Academy League (Group C) clash included three Under-16s players.

Hawthorns Academy director Dan Ashworth said: "It was a good response from the lads after the result the week before.

"They showed a good work ethic and performed well.

"It was a fairly even game, which could have gone either way."

ALBION (4-4-2): Allsopp; Mason, Clarke, Pike, Hurst; Knight, Worrall, Nichols, Saied; Lake-Gaskin, Morrison. Subs not used: Carlin (gk), Bruce, Samuels.

Women

Albion ladies continued their impressive start to the season with a 4-0 victory at Norwich in the Women's FA Cup yesterday.

Erin Hicken fired a double to add to Hayley Phillipowsky and Kate Harris strikes.
