ROMAN Bednar scored his first-ever goals in Albion colours as Baggies reserves produced a scintillating four-goal second-half performance to beat Lincoln City 4-1.

The on-loan Hearts striker played 78 minutes on his comeback from a back injury in the Pontin's Holidays League Cup clash.

And his deadly double within twenty-minutes of the restart overturned The Imps' tenth-minute lead.

Sherjill MacDonald impressed again and scored for the third successive second-string encounter thanks to a 65th-minute strike.

Super-sub Stefan Morrison added a fourth ten minutes from time - his second in as many games - as Albion made it three successive wins.

Baggies coach Craig Shakespeare said: "It was very much a tale of two halves.

"We produced an inept first-half performance.

"We couldn't get to grips with a difficult surface and we lacked desire.

"We played some terrific stuff in the second-half.

"Our application and desire was much better and we were a constant goal threat.

"We showed a lot more spirit.

"Sherjill MacDonald had the beating of his full-back and after Roman scored his two goals the spark seemed to return to his game.

"He had a spring in his step and the two goals definitely gave him confidence."

The only downside to the victory was seeing Shelton Martis forced off in the 80th minute with a tight hamstring as he was replaced by Adrian Manchester.

ALBION: Steele; Hodgkiss, Martis (Manchester 80), Pele, Tininho; Worrall, Labadie (Nichols 55), Chaplow, MacDonald; Slusarski, Bednar (Morrison 78). Subs not used: Lake-Gaskin, Saied.
