ALBION have extended Sherjill MacDonald's loan spell until January.

The Holland Under-21 international joined the Baggies on a temporary basis six months ago from Dutch Second Division outfit AGOVV Apeldoorn.

The powerful striker made his debut as a substitute in a 2-1 home success against Plymouth later that month and went on to make nine further appearances from the bench.

The 6ft hitman's opportunities were limited towards the end of the campaign after he underwent a minor knee operation in April.

Manager Tony Mowbray said: "We've all seen glimpses of what Sherjill can produce.

"I see it regularly in training.

"Sherjill has undoubted quality and is gradually adapting to the English culture.

"Let's hope if he gets the opportunity next season he grasps it."

Meanwhile, Albion and Manchester United yesterday finalised the permanent transfer of keeper Tomasz Kuszczak to Old Trafford.

The Polish international spent the whole of last season on loan at United.

Another former Baggie, Rob Davies, is set to join Spanish lower league side Barakaldo.

The Wales Under-21 international, who was released along with fellow young guns Rob Elvins and Jeff Forsyth at the end of last season, has been offered a two-year contract following a successful trial.
