MY INSPIRATIONS: Graham Dorrans

Posted on: Thu 28 Jan 2010

IN our second new www.wba.co.uk feature for the 2009/10 season we will be asking the players, coaching staff and former players what has inspired them in their lives and in football.

We'll be getting up close and personal with Roberto Di Matteo's men every Thursday in 'My Inspirations'.

This week we chat to midfield maestro Graham Dorrans.

Q1. Which teacher?

GD: My PE teacher, Mr Reynolds. He took the school team as well. He used to let me play a lot of football!

Q2. Which song?

GD: I haven't got any favourite songs and before a game I'll listen to anything that's being played on the iPod speakers in the dressing room!

Q3. Which person outside of football as a teenager?

GD: My parents, John and Mary. My dad used to take me all over the country to games when I was about 12 and they both came to a lot of games. It's more difficult for them to get to games now but they go to games closer to them like Blackpool or Newcastle.

Q4. Which coach as a youth team player?

GD: Alec Cleland. He played for Rangers and he coached me at Livingston from when I was 16 until I got in the first team. He was great with me when I was growing up and I learnt a lot from him.

Q5. Which film?

GD: I haven't got an inspiring film but one of my favourites at the moment is 'The Hangover'. It's just so funny to watch. I prefer watching comedies to anything else.

Q6. Which manager?

GD: Mark Proctor when I was at Livingston. He was great with me and got me my chance down here to play under Tony Mowbray.

Q7. Which book?

GD: I'm afraid I don't read a lot of books. The last book I read was Gazza'a autobiography, which was interesting.

Q8. Which famous person?

GD: Gazza. Growing up watching Rangers he was the player I looked up to and I enjoyed watching him play.

Q9. Which team-mate in your career?

GD: Robert Snodgrass. We played together from about ten years old at Livingston until I came here and he went on to Leeds, where he is still playing now. We grew up together really.

Q10. Which sportsperson outside of football?

GD: I like a bit of darts. Phil 'The Power' Taylor is one of the best in the game and has won something like 15 World Championships. It's outstanding what he has achieved.
