ALBION'S principal club sponsor HomeServe beat off 17 other businesses to walk away with the Albion Foundation's inaugural Partner Cup.
The six-a-side competition was held at the Baggies' Academy Indoor Dome.
It was an opportunity for local businesses to reward their staff with the chance to play in the state of the art facility and for the Foundation to raise awareness of its work with the local business community.
HomeServe, Universal Fixings, GSF Car Parts and Hadley Industries were the group winners, with HomeServe beating Universal Fixings 1-0 in the final.
HomeServe Brand Director and participant Steve Hollyoak said: "For companies like HomeServe, getting involved with the local community is really important, so when the Foundation invited us to participate we were delighted.
"The Foundation team put on a genuinely fun and well-managed event which everyone enjoyed immensely, plus we all got to understand a little more about the fantastic work the Albion Foundation do - and came away with the honours!
"It goes without saying we will be back again next year."
The local companies also had the opportunity to see the Foundation's work in action as dancers performed with support from Beacon Radio.
The Sporting Club Albion powerchair football team held an open training session in the nearby sports hall and the Kickz project, for young people aged 13 to 18, ran their own mini-tournament on the Foundation's portable pitch and also demonstrated computer work in the Learning Centre.
Albion Foundation Director Rob Lake added: "The tournament was a real success, very competitive, but played in the right spirit.
"It was great to meet some local businesses and hopefully this is the start of building a strong and mutually beneficial partnership with a number of them.
"There are lots of ways companies can get involved, like sponsorship deals, donations, volunteering and fundraising opportunities.
"We believe when companies see the difference we are making in the local community they will want to get involved.
"Special mention goes to Indtherm, who kindly sent a cash donation to support the Foundation's work when entering their team."
