YEAR Five pupils from two Sandwell schools were lucky enough to join The Albion Foundation Learning Centre for a matchday experience against Blackpool last week.
The pupils from Tameside Primary and St Matthew's CE Primary were very excited about the day's events.
The first task for the day was to greet the Albion players as they arrived at The Hawthorns.
They added to their autograph collection by meeting vice-captain Jonas Olsson, skipper Scott Carson and striker Ishmael Miller before wishing them luck for the big game!
The youngsters then spent the rest of the afternoon designing and creating good luck banners for the Baggies, which did the trick as Roberto Di Matteo's side ran out 3-2 winners.
The pupils are currently accessing the Foundation's core education programme 'Playing for Success' which runs in partnership with Sandwell LA Extended Services and DCSF.
Football and popular culture are used to inspire achievement, raise self esteem and aspirations, promote cohesion and cultural awareness, increase confidence and change attitudes to learning.
'Playing for Success' takes place after school for ten weeks and is free of charge to Sandwell schools.
The Foundation has been working successfully with the schools for two terms now and we hope the partnership will continue to develop into the summer term.
Education and Learning Development Manager Anna Pincher said: "The group had a fantastic day and they were a real credit to the school.
"Accessing matchdays is often a new experience for young people and provides the stimulus for many educational activities."
