And attacking-midfielder explains part Mulumbu played in Hawthorns move

STEPHANE Sessegnon admits he is itching to make his Albion debut against former club Sunderland tomorrow (ko 3pm).

The attacking midfielder was left frustrated last weekend after a hold up in his work permit prevented him from playing at Fulham.

And he is eager to be unleashed on the Black Cats, having spent two seasons at the Stadium of Light before making a club-record switch to The Hawthorns on transfer deadline day.

“I respect Sunderland because I played the last two seasons there,” said Sessegnon, who was granted a work permit two days ago.

“Now my mind is on West Brom and, if I play, all I’m focused on is getting a result for West Brom.

“Training has been good and I’ve really enjoyed my first week or so at the club.

“I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen from my new team-mates.

“This game is important not just for me but the team because we need the win.

“Last weekend was frustrating for me.

“Now I just want to play football - and I can’t wait for the game tomorrow.”

The Benin international scored in both encounters for the Black Cats against the Baggies last term – finishing on the losing side on each occasion.

Now he hopes he can get on the scoresheet for the third successive game between the two teams, with the points again heading in Albion’s direction.

“I remember scoring in the games but now I want to score for West Brom,” he added.

“I hope I can add more to the attack and score and create goals.”

Sessegnon has also revealed how his former Paris Saint Germain team-mate Youssouf Mulumbu sold Albion to him before he decided to make the move to the Midlands.

“I knew West Brom is a good team that likes to play football,” he said.

“I know Mulumbu and Nicolas Anelka are good players.

“Mulumbu told me I would enjoy it here because we have good players and the head coach likes to play football.

“I like to play football.”
