Baggies' on-loan striker in running for top honour
ROMELU Lukaku has been included on the PFA Young Player of the Year shortlist.
He is up against Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, Villa’s Christian Benteke, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck, and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere for the prestigious award.
The on-loan, 19-year-old Chelsea striker has been in sparkling form for the eighth-placed Baggies this term, firing 13 goals to put himself eighth in the Barclays Premier League scoring chart.
The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, on Sunday, April 28.
Only five players from outside the United Kingdom have won the trophy – Harry Kewell, Nicolas Anelka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Cesc Fabregas – while other former winners include Albion’s own Cyrille Regis, Robbie Fowler, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney.
