Downing delivers latest injury news ahead of cup tie

BILLY Jones has been ruled out of tomorrow’s FA Cup third-round tie with Crystal Palace (ko 3pm) - and Victor Anichebe remains a major doubt.

Defender Jones was forced off at half-time of the 1-0 New Year’s Day win over Newcastle after suffering slight concussion and a badly cut eye following a collision with Ben Foster.

Anichebe has missed the last four games due to a groin problem, while Keith Downing has no fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of the Hawthorns encounter.

“We’ve got a few bumps and bruises but we’ve got a big squad to choose from,” said the caretaker head coach.

“Billy Jones had a slight concussion after the collision with Ben.

“He’s also got a nasty cut above his eye so he won’t be involved tomorrow.

“Victor Anchebe still has an ongoing groin problem.

“Generally it is bumps and bruises and we’ll check again tomorrow.

“In general I’ve got 20 players to give me a selection problem.”
