STEVE Clarke insists Boaz Myhill’s magnificent display in today’s pulsating 2-1 win over Chelsea epitomised how he can depend on his entire squad.
The Wales international filled in for injured Baggies No.1 Ben Foster (groin) for the second successive game.
And he produced a match-winning performance – twice pulling off world-class saves from Daniel Sturridge in the second half.
Gabriel Tamas also stepped in for the injured Gareth McAuley (hamstring) and had a commanding game alongside Jonas Olsson at the heart of the Albion defence.
“Boaz was fantastic,” said Clarke.
“When called upon he made the saves and his handling was assured.
“He was great last week at Wigan and I had no doubts Boaz wouldn’t let us down.
“He has waited a long time for his chance.
“I’m not surprised because I see him working every day in training and he is a dedicated professional, who was working hard so when his chance came he wouldn’t let us down.
“And I see that in a number of players in the squad.
“I’ve got a squad of players here and they’re all committed to what we’re trying to do.
“Everybody wants to do well for this team - for me that’s the most pleasing thing.
“I can make one or two changes every week and the performance of the team never suffers.
“I think that’s a great thing.”
