ALBION beat Bury 2-0 this afternoon as the Baggies returned to action in a behind-closed-doors friendly against the League Two outfit.
After a goalless first-half, new head coach Alan Irvine made ten planned changes during the break and goals from Graham Dorrans and Saido Berahino sealed the win at the club’s Great Barr training ground.
Scotland international Dorrans opened the scoring in the 54th minute by driving through midfield and firing into the top corner with a right-footed 20-yard strike.
Last season’s top scorer Berahino added a second 13 minutes from time when he raced onto a throughball, beat a defender and found the net from inside the penalty area.
The club’s first three summer signings, Craig Gardner, Joleon Lescott and Chris Baird, all made their non-competitive debuts.
The training match completed a tough week of toil under the sun for the Baggies’ squad, who reported back for pre-season duty on Monday.
Albion’s fourth signing, Sebastien Pocognoli, will train with his new team-mates for the first time on Monday.

SECOND-HALF XI: L Daniels, Baird, D Daniels, Lescott, Garmston (Smart 70), Thorne, Mulumbu, Dorrans, O’Sullivan, Berahino, Roofe.
